So me being the super mom that I am, hardly, and it being Spring break for my kids, I decided to try to do a craft project with my kids and share it with our readers but sadly enough it was an EPIC fail. With that being said I decided to share the joys of my life as a mother of 6 kids. As you can imagine most of my days are full of farts, burps and laughter, usually in that order. I am like a broken record player, constantly telling them that those sounds are inappropriate and that one day when they have a girlfriend or I’m sad to say a boyfriend, that it won’t be funny. I know that one day I will look back and wish that those sounds were in our home, but for now those sounds are a constant.
I know I am not the only mom who can’t wait for nap time or bed time. To be able to kick up my feet and read a book or watch a tv show that I have had recorded for at least a month. I have a to do list that seems to never end. Then add on top of it 4 school aged kids schedules who have dance, piano, gymnastics, and various sports activities along with a 3-year old and an 18 month old, our lives never slow down. Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder how we make it through each day. I hope I am like all the other women in the world and feel overwhelmed and need a vacation. Continue reading
Spring cleaning is definitely not at the top of our “Favorite Things to do” list. But once it’s complete and the house is sparkling we’re so glad we sucked it up and did it. We’ve found some great products over the years that we’ve found make the job a little easier.
The Original Shammy
I love a good old paper towel but hate that once you use it, it gets thrown away. I received The Original Shammy towels as a gift one year and they really are FANTASTIC. I put them to the test and threw them in the wash and they held up great. I was able to use them again and again. I love using them to wipe down my windows or to clean up the MILLIONS of spills that my kids make daily.
No Work Daily Shower Cleaner
When we built our home we put in a big walk in shower in the master bathroom. LOVE it. Bad thing is it’s all tile. I don’t know about you but cleaning bathrooms is one of my least favorite household chores so add to the list a full tiled shower added a frown to this ladies face. Thank goodness for family. My sister-in-law recommended No Work Daily Shower Cleaner stuff and can I just say it. IS. THE. BEST. It seriously is NO WORK. You just spray your shower down after every use and there is never any hard water or soap residue. WIN. WIN. So cleaning it has become less of a problem. This is a product only available at Melaleuca. Great company I might add. Continue reading
This is one of those posts that I went back and forth on for a while, not sure that I would love the end result or be happy with the time that I would put into it. I am happy to report that it did not disappoint. My husband frequents pawn shops and for the last year or so has been accumulating bowling pins. I think that they look cool and I like the idea of having them. I had placed 2 in our living room but decided they didn’t match the decor that well since they were a little beat up. So I wondered if I could make them a little more decorative. I did some online searching for some ideas and all that I could see was superheros, minions and snowmen (not what I had in mind).
So with that being said I decided there was a first time for everything and would figure it out for myself and free hand it. It actually was a fast process and extremely easy. If you are curious I think the pins can be picked up for about $7, not a bad price for an interesting decoration piece. All it took was some paint and a little imagination as to what I wanted to do with them.
I don’t know about you but I know around here bedtime is CRAZY! I think it’s safe to say it’s my least favorite part of the day but at the same time my favorite. Is that possible?? Wrangling up the boys and trying to get them to calm down is THE biggest pain in-the-you-know-what. I dread it!!
I think my saving grace has been letting them pick out a book to read. Sometimes this is just as difficult as getting them in their pajamas but once we’re snuggled in and reading some of their favorite books the craziness is forgotten. This is the perfect time for me to take the time to relish in their sweetness. It’s interesting to me that there are certain books they gravitate to. I’ve read some of our books night after night, weeks on end. That’s ok though. As long as they take the time to snuggle with mommy for just a few minutes, I’ll do whatever it takes.
I thought I’d share with you some of our favorite bedtime stories. Some are classics and others you might not have heard of but to me, these are priceless and something that gets me through another day.
Snowmen At Night
by Caralyn Buehner
The “Snowman Series” is an absolute favorite around here. We have a couple of the boardbooks and a pop-up book. These books never get old! What kid doesn’t love the idea of a bunch of snowmen playing, working or being their friend. Snowmen at Night was the first book we bought in the series and now it’s become sort of an obsession around here to buy all of them (especially if they’re the pop-up version). Snowmen at Play, Snowmen at Work and Snowmen All Year are the other titles in the series. Continue reading
I’m BAAAAAACK!! I’m hoping at least SOME of you noticed I was gone. I took a nice 3 months off and for a fabulous, snuggly, good smelling, tiny reason! We welcomed our third BOY on December 9th, 2015. I was induced 3 weeks early due to a 2 vessel cord and worries of the baby measuring small (that’s a whole other story)! Labor and delivery were my easiest yet and luckily he was born completely healthy! Without further ado introducing:

This little bundle of joy (along with his 2 older brothers) and the holidays, have kept me busy and on my toes these past couple of months! Now that I’ve adjusted to life as a mom of 3 I’m ready to return to the blogging world! I wanted to give you guys a peek at my little guy and his adorable nursery. Continue reading
** This is Part 2, of a 2 part series. **
On Tuesday, we shared with you the first steps in getting our butcher block cabinet prepped and ready (see “Modern & Chic Butcher Block Cabinet – Part 1” for more information). We’re excited to be back today to walk you through the remaining steps! This was one of those projects that while I was doing it, I kept asking myself why I get such crazy ideas. In the end though, I have to admit it wasn’t really that bad and I’m super happy with it how it turned out. It coordinates perfectly with the rest of the furniture in our living room!
So without further ado, Part 2.
We ended with the butcher block being clued together and we were waiting for it to dry. We continue today’s post with working on getting the cabinet painted, finishing the butcher block and then finally reassembling. So here we go…
While the glue was setting up, I grabbed the cabinet and started taking it apart. Making sure to remove all the hardware from the doors.
I also removed the top since we were going to replace it with the butcher block anyway.
**This is Part 1, of a 2 Part Series.**
Well, this is one of those projects that I never intended to do — it never even crossed my mind — but through a series of events, I quickly realized it was going to happen whether I wanted it to or not.
Here’s the series of events: last month was my birthday. My husband had an idea for my birthday present (he’s always thinking up projects). We had a butcher block lying around from an Ikea cabinet we purchased from Craigslist. His idea, use the butcher block to make a coffee table for our living room. Brillant!! Sadly, when you reach a certain age it just feels like another day however, working on the table gave the days leading up to my birthday purpose and it was fun to see it all come together.
I love absolutely love it! So much so I debated if I should take our teal media cabinet and make it match the table. My biggest hold up was I knew we’d either have to purchase a butcher block, which can get expensive or make it by hand or purchase one. I wasn’t to thrilled about either.
In the end, I caved and decided having the table and cabinet match made more sense and it would be AWESOME once it was all said and done. Continue reading
So I always have the best of intentions getting ahead of things when it comes to holidays. Some, of course, aren’t as big of a deal as others but I still like to have things around the house for the kiddos.
Easter is one of the holidays where I like the reason for the season more than the commercial aspect of it. Which in turn, means I don’t have a ton of decorating items around my house when Easter does come. Ironically, Marie mentioned a few weeks ago that she’d like me to do a couple of Easter printables, I thought, “Well, now is a good time as any.” And ahead of schedule? Wow, this never happens.
So thanks to Marie, she inspired me and I set out to put a couple of pieces together. I think they turned out pretty cute. I thought, if you’re anything like me, it would be nice to have it before the holiday rather than after when it’s on sale. Ha! Continue reading
I think that I am finally ready to start the fun process of really decorating my house. Yes, I have things on shelves and pillows on couches but I haven’t really begun to hang things on the wall. With that being said I think that I will start with one room at a time. I completed my daughter’s room about 3 months ago and that seemed like a wonderful project to do, but as to where to go from there I wasn’t sure. So I’ve decided to start small. A bathroom. I can’t screw that up right, not too many holes and not too much decor. Continue reading
