Back in January I shared some of my exercise tips for starting off the new year in my Get Fit post. Today I want to focus on one of the things that helps me the most with wanting to get my butt out of bed and exercising. It’s LOOKING good. It might sound silly but it’s a big deal for me. If I feel frumpy or uncomfortable in what I’m wearing it isn’t going to happen. Right after having had a baby isn’t a pretty time, let’s face it. If you are like me the weight just doesn’t fall off, I gotta work for it. So what I wear matters. I will admit to having to pull my exercise pants over the baby bulge and looking at myself and shaking my head and wondering when will it magically disappear. Lucky for me I have found some clothes that have been flattering for me then and have been able to work for me now.
Old Navy’s Go Dry Tanks are both flattering and comfortable. I haven’t had to pull or tug as I have worked out, it doesn’t matter how much bending, stretching or pulling I do, it’s never and issue. I enjoy the comfort of the material and the length of these awesome tops. Old Navy’s Patterned Compression Leggings for Women are also amazing. I am not one to exercise in leggings, my theory is the less clothes the better, but I had a friend introduce me to these and now I really love them. I never get too hot and they come in crops to and such fun patterns and colors. It really makes exercising fun. I know it seems strange to say that at exercise is fun, but it really can be and a fun wardrobe helps. I love going to the store and buying something new to exercise in. You should try it and let me know if it works for you.
Also along with clothes I found Salomon Women’s XR Mission Running Shoe that I tried out and fell in love with. The crazy part was that I ordered them from Amazon to run a 1/2 marathon with in hopes that they would be a good shoe. The reviews were AMAZING and with their incredible return policy (You may return most new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by Amazon.com within 30 days of delivery for a full refund.) I know it sounds insane to buy running shoes online without at least trying them on, but I felt that it wasn’t any different then buying them in a store and running with them and being disappointed. The BEST part about these shoes, besides the fun colors, is that there are NO laces. They have a quicklace system, truly genius. I hate to stop in the middle of a run and tie my shoes. It was a win, win. And the price can’t be beat. I seriously can’t say enough good things about these shoes.
Let’s talk. They are a big deal. I like to know that my feel are nice and cushioned and ventilated while exercising and I have found some socks thanks to a sister-in-law that I love. Adidas Superlite Spiral ankle socks and Adidas Climacool X no show socks. Both are great and I only have 5 pairs so when I run out and have to use my old socks I am a sad woman. They are a little pricey for what you get but totally worth it.
They are important when it comes to running. I shared my running belt with you last year and I love it. To be honest, I don’t just use it for running. It’s actual a multi-purpose belt. But it’s a must if you run like me and need chap stick and your phone and want to be hands free. Headbands, I hate my hair in my face. I love Hippie Runner. They have fun, in-expensive headbands. I like to fold them in half when I want to wear them on a lazy hair day too.
Exercise. Sometimes it’s a challenge but with the right wardrobe it can make all the difference. If you have found some amazing workout clothes be sure to send them our way. We love to try out new things and can’t wait to hear from you.
