I’m always looking for ways to make school supplies fun for my kids or more unique so that my kids can tell theirs apart from other students. If you are anything like me you find something on Pinterest and think “That is a dang good idea.” and “Pin It” and then never do anything with it. So this is my chance at redemption, I’m hoping that by posting this blog it will give me the motivation to create some of the posts I have pinned to make the school year a little more fun for my kids. In no particular order here are some of my Pinterest finds:

Who doesn’t love a good bookmark? And with kids and reading these are a must. It makes it so fun to mark how far they have gone and it is fun to see such popular things like minions and angry birds available to make. See how at http://tallystreasury.com/2011/02/corner-page-bookmarks-3/. Continue reading

Well, I’m sure this comes with mixed emotions but school will be starting soon (in some areas it already has) but the truth is, it’s coming whether or not we want it to. When I was trying to figure out what to do for my blog post this week, I decided it would be fun to come up with a back-to-school-themed post. I wanted to make something that maybe not a lot of people have, something unique and cute. Hence my idea for a “Back to School” bunting printable was born. Thank goodness Marie came to visit this week because she helped me figure out exactly what I needed to do to make it look cute. Second opinions are always nice, right? Misty even offered her opinion after I told her what I was working on. Her response, “How dare you make something back to school related.” Haha! Yep, I’m pretty evil.

I’ll admit that I’ve thought about this post for a few weeks and it has really scared me. I feel like I’m really putting myself out there sharing my opinion on style. I’m definitely not a fashion expert, nor do I claim to be. I’m simply a girl who likes clothes, and I’ll admit at times I do have expensive taste but that doesn’t deter me from finding good bargains. I’ve searched high and low to find you the cutest clothes at an affordable rate. Building your wardrobe can take years, hey, I still have some clothes from high school! Let’s get started with what I consider some essential wardrobe items that every girl should have.

It seems we tend to do a lot of DIY projects on our blog but if you remember Michelle and I just recently moved so it seems that the projects never end. With that being said today’s post is a super simple one and it only cost me $30, which made it even better and only took me an hour, so it’s a project anyone can do if they have the time and are wanting to redo a piece of furniture.

I have been working slowly on my daughter’s room and have loved how each project has come together, unfortunately I can’t tell if it’s the room of my choice or if she loves it too. Regardless it is adorable and is going to last her for forever. Today’s post is another project for her bedroom and has already been sitting in her room waiting to be finished. Continue reading

I’ve been pretty excited to share this post with you because I LOVE how this project turned out. It’s not only made our front porch (remember, I’m obsessed) look completely different but it’s added some color that was desperately needed.

I’m sure you’re wondering, “Painting vinyl flooring? That seems strange.” Here’s the deal, about a month ago while on the lookout for an area rug that was nearly indestructible because of kiddos and a dog, I ran across Beth’s post over at Sawdust and Embryos and instantly became intrigued. Her post, DIY Dining Room Area Rug {Painted Linoleum}, is a step-by-step tutorial on – yep you guessed it – taking vinyl flooring and painting it to look like a rug. It definitely seemed like the solution to my problem. And I loved how hers turned out. Without a doubt, I had to give it a try but I had needed to find a remnant first.

Low and behold, a few weeks later, while visiting my in-laws they just happened to have a remnant from redoing their laundry room. They didn’t need it for anything else so I became the proud owner of a vinyl floor remnant. Who knew something like that could be so exciting. 🙂 The downside, it wasn’t big enough to use in my dining room like I had hoped but I knew I HAD to give this painted vinyl a try.

So there’s no denying it…I LOVE breakfast and I’ll eat it any time of day. When I was little my aunt used to make the BEST bacon waffles. If you’ve never had bacon in your waffle then let me be the bearer of bad news…you. haven’t. lived. I didn’t think it was possible but my aunt stumbled upon an even better waffle recipe and shared it with me. I’ll warn you, it does require you to somewhat plan ahead but I promise you it’s TOTALLY worth it. And if you’re thinking the bacon part sounds NASTY don’t worry, this recipe is easily done without the bacon. So…now that your mouth is watering, let’s get started. Continue reading

I have been asked for a virtual tour of my house since we have now been in it for about 3 months but I have yet to make a hole in the wall since I afraid that as soon as I do I won’t want that picture in that spot or no picture there at all.  So until I decide what my bare walls will look like I decided, with some help from my little sister, to share some of my favorite things about my house in no particular order. So I think I found my new obsession…making our front porch more welcoming and cute. It’s definitely a work in progress but hopefully by the end of the summer I’ll have it exactly how I want it only to put it all away for the winter. Crap! That’s how I roll sometimes, I guess. I actually have my hands in a few projects this week but this has got to be the quickest and easiest one of them all. And to say I love how it turned out is an understatement.

A few years ago, we bought a Boise State flag (Go Broncos!) and flag holder for daddy for Father’s Day however, the flag has been looking pretty sad lately. I’ve been on the look out for something more inviting and um, less embarrassing for several weeks now. So last week, while I was out and about, I stopped in at Hobby Lobby (because you know I LOVE that place) and I found this adorable “Hello” tote bag.

I had this idea a while back when I was making my nephew’s t-shirt quilt. His older brother was getting married and I thought, “Wouldn’t it be FUN to make an apron for his fiancé out of one of his old jerseys?!” If anyone knows me they know I LOVE to give sentimental gifts so I thought this one was brilliant. When I sat down to do it (extremely last minute!) I was pleasantly surprised with how quick and easy it was. Can I just say I LOVE it when a project goes smoothly. Almost unheard of, right? Well it was my lucky day! If you’ve got an old jersey lying around grab it and lets get started! Continue reading

Having moved in my new house and maybe ordering things from Amazon occasionally, much to my husbands dismay, and needing UPS to find me, I decided I needed to put something in front of my house so that the delivery drivers wouldn’t have to come running down my driveway asking if this was the Weekes’ residence, yes that happened and yes my sister was here so she is my witness. I had this awesome address pallet at my old house and wanted to do it again at my new house so I knew it would be a great post and something that anyone could do at their home. I’m not one for numbers on my house but I love anything that has to do with a pallet and this project is so simple and doesn’t take much time. Continue reading
