I love giving gifts. However, I always struggle with what to give. It doesn’t matter the person. I love surprising people but only if it’s something I know the receiver will love and use. My mom’s 60th birthday was coming up and thankfully this was not a hard one for me. I had purchased a birthday board from a craft activity in my area and had been waiting for the right opportunity to put it together and give it to my mom. YAY for birthdays — 0r any gift-giving holiday.

Wooden Board-22 1/2 X 5 3/4 X 1
Wooden 1.5 inch Circles
Metal Jump Rings-Amount varies
12 Eyelet Screws
Vinyl Birthday Word and Month Letters
Acrylic Paint
Scrapbook Paper
Sand Paper
Mod Podge
Sawtooth Picture Hangers
Glue Gun

I started by sanding my board. I wanted smooth edges and to have them rounded. I then traced my wooden board on my paper. Then the painting began. I thought that I would have all the paint colors that I would need when I choose my paper but quickly realized that I would have to make my own colors, which is not my favorite thing to do. I either always make too much or too little. I chose to paint with 3 different colors to coordinate with my paper but when doing yours the sky’s the limit. Do it as plain or as fun and crazy as you would like. The thing to remember is that you need to paint the month wooden circles as well as the birthday circles. I didn’t do that until I was all ready to put it together. Kind of important.

Cut out your paper-it took 1 12X12 sheet cut in 2, and mod podge it to the wooden board. I chose to sand the edges of the paper after it was glued on the board since I loved the end look.

I wanted to double layer my paper so I repeated the paper process, just cut the paper smaller and sanded it before I glued it on. LOVE the look.

Next, take your vinyl birthday word and line it up closer to the top. Then take each of the month letters and hot glue along the bottom of the board.

Then take the eyelet screws and line one up under each of the months.

Write names and dates on each of the wooden circles and attach together with the jump rings then attach jump rings to the eyelet screws. That’s it! The perfect way to display and keep track of birthdays for your family. And it looks so cute!
