It’s almost my FAVORITE time of year: SUMMER!!! Flip flops, sunshine, swimming, camping, shorts, the 4th of July, shaved ice, I could go on and on. But one of my very favorite reasons?! My kids are HOME! I’ll just admit it now, I’m one of those crazy moms that cries when summer is over and my kids run off to school. I LOVE having them home all summer but it always goes by too fast.

I always have great intentions of doing fun, new things multiple times a week but as soon as summer hits my brain goes blank. I decided now was the perfect time to put together a list of summer boredom busters. A lot of these activities don’t cost a thing! I’ve included a printable list, easy to skim over and quickly choose an activity or printable cards, throw them in a box and draw out an activity.

So me being the super mom that I am, hardly, and it being Spring break for my kids, I decided to try to do a craft project with my kids and share it with our readers but sadly enough it was an EPIC fail. With that being said I decided to share the joys of my life as a mother of 6 kids. As you can imagine most of my days are full of farts, burps and laughter, usually in that order. I am like a broken record player, constantly telling them that those sounds are inappropriate and that one day when they have a girlfriend or I’m sad to say a boyfriend, that it won’t be funny. I know that one day I will look back and wish that those sounds were in our home, but for now those sounds are a constant.

I know I am not the only mom who can’t wait for nap time or bed time. To be able to kick up my feet and read a book or watch a tv show that I have had recorded for at least a month. I have a to do list that seems to never end. Then add on top of it 4 school aged kids schedules who have dance, piano, gymnastics, and various sports activities along with a 3-year old and an 18 month old, our lives never slow down. Sometimes I just have to shake my head and wonder how we make it through each day. I hope I am like all the other women in the world and feel overwhelmed and need a vacation. Continue reading

Sometimes I wonder if when I speak, I’m being listened to.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m teaching my boys everything they need to know to be kind, gentle, loving, good men.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m worrying too much about the day-to-day tasks when I should be worrying about how I can be better…a better mom, wife, daughter, sister and friend.

Sometimes I wonder if I can do it all.

I’m always looking for ways to make school supplies fun for my kids or more unique so that my kids can tell theirs apart from other students. If you are anything like me you find something on Pinterest and think “That is a dang good idea.” and “Pin It” and then never do anything with it. So this is my chance at redemption, I’m hoping that by posting this blog it will give me the motivation to create some of the posts I have pinned to make the school year a little more fun for my kids. In no particular order here are some of my Pinterest finds:

Who doesn’t love a good bookmark? And with kids and reading these are a must. It makes it so fun to mark how far they have gone and it is fun to see such popular things like minions and angry birds available to make. See how at http://tallystreasury.com/2011/02/corner-page-bookmarks-3/. Continue reading

If you are anything like me and make something for one child chances are one of your other children will want one too. I feel like I am in one of those “If you give a Mouse a Cookie” books it leads to anther thing and will just start over again. And while I love my kids and I love to sew, doing something for the 4th time would mean I was a pro right? Not yet.  Maybe someday. But not today. With that being said I didn’t have any problems with this adorable messenger bag that my sister and I saw and thought that we could make ourselves. It came with its share of trial and error but it is such a fun bag and my kids actually started out using them for their church bags and have since started using them as their secret spy bags. LOVE IT!!!
