I love decorating for fall. The colors are amazing-the different shades of orange, yellow, brown and burgundy. Who knew that such colors could cause such a stir of emotions. To see them outside is breathtaking and then to bring them inside causes the same reaction. It’s beautiful. I’m sad that it goes so quickly and that I don’t enjoy it as much as I should. I feel that winter comes too fast.

To bring the colors indoors, I knew that I wanted to create my own fall centerpiece with a table runner and fall flowers. To start, I was excited when I saw these painted mason jars. To create the fall colors on my mason jars, I mixed different food coloring together. For the light brown I did 6 drops of red, 2 yellow and 1 blue. For the yellow I added 7 drops of yellow and 2 orange. For the orange I did 7 orange and 2 red.

I was able to pick up all of my supplies for the table runner and flowers at Hobby Lobby. I was excited since all their fabric was on sale and so were their fall flowers. I also filled the mason jars with acorns and they were in the fall section (also 40% off). It was a great day to be at Hobby Lobby!

For my table runner I cut my fabric strips to 4 3/4X13 and cut out 2 of each pattern. It ended up being 77 inches long. I did a seam around the whole thing and then ironed it flat. It was so simple and easy and I really loved the end result.

It was such a fun project and one that anyone can do. Be sure to share your favorite fall crafts with us. We love hearing from you.

I love the Fourth of July. I love the parades, seeing the colors red, white and blue everywhere, family get togethers, flags waving in the breeze and especially fireworks. It’s a wonderful time of year. It makes my heart swell and it’s a day to celebrate our independence. I am so proud to be an American and to live in the country that we live in and enjoy the freedoms that we have. I am so grateful for the soldiers who serve and have served to help keep us free.

As this day of celebration approached I wanted to start adding some decorations to my home to bring the spirit of America into our home. I came across this┬ápom pom tutorial on Facebook that I thought was cool and easy. As I was visiting Michelle in Boise this last weekend I was up early one morning with my baby. I was trying to decide what to share this week. It dawned on me that the pom pom tutorial would be great but to add my own twist to it. As I shared my idea with Michelle later that morning I was being dumb, talking kind of goofy and said “I thought it up in my brain.” My wonderful daughter Paityn then piped in “What brain?” Michelle and I just had to laugh. I’m telling myself she didn’t mean anything by it, right?

Ok so my idea. A 4th of July pom pom Flag Runner.
